The Andean Villages & Culture Tour is all about discovering different cultures…to be able to reflect on your own. It’s a great opportunity to meet locals, make friends, learn about traditions, and the harsh way-of-life in the Andean countryside. Combine this with some trekking and fabulous scenery and your trip is complete!

This tour can start on any day except on Friday’s and Saturday’s. During the holiday season, the local school may be closed.

  • Itinerary

    Day 1 – Arrival

    Upon your arrival to Llullu Llama Mountain Lodge our staff will welcome you and show you your beautiful Garden Cottage with balcony overlooking the mountains. A great place to read your book and enjoy some tranquility.

    The afternoon can be spent either relaxing at the Spa or enjoying a Yoga class. Another option is to take one of our self-guided hikes…we highly recommend a stroll around our tiny village or a hike up to the Ñahuira hilltop for marvelous views. You can also visit the Don Bosco wood workshop.
    After a tasty dinner and maybe making some new friends, we will lit the wood stove in your room for a relaxing end to your day.

    Day 2 – Cheese Factory & Malingua Pamba Community tour

    After breakfast our driver will pick you up to firstly take you for a visit to the local cheese factory. The Hernandez family has been producing fresh cheese for over 45 years. You can observe the cheese making process and of course taste the end product.
    If you are looking for a unique and different experience, and like to see the real off the beaten path side to places, the Malingua Pamba community tour is definitely for you!

    Your driver will take you to the 98% indigenous village of Malingua Pamba where you will firstly visit the local school to spend some time with the kids, they love to learn some words in English! Afterwards you will visit a local family in their home and learn about their customs, traditions and life high up in the Andes. All proceeds from this community trip go to the local school, the family, and your driver. Lunch with a local family is included.
    Tip: bring some donations for the school kids or the family!

    Day 3 – Cow milking

    You’ll have to rise with the roosters and one of our neighbors will be waiting to take you to their cows. If you would like to try your hand at milking a cow and learn how milking is traditionally done in Isinlivi, our neighbors are happy to teach you!
