Llullu Llama Mountain Lodge is located in the picturesque village of Isinlivi, just two and a half hours from Quito. Our tiny village is full of Andean life and history. The surroundings are riddled with stunning mountain tops, impressive volcanoes and traditional highland villages – just perfect for shorter and longer day hikes.

Base yourself in Isinlivi to explore the Quilotoa Loop, or get here on your village-to-village multi day trek: from Sigchos (11km) or Chugchilán (12.5km).

Isinlivi can be visited the whole year around! We are located at an altitude of 2870 m, which is a perfect to get acclimatized. Isinlivi is the lowest altitude village of the Quilotoa Loop, and therefore the weather is much softer and warmer here than in other higher altitude villages on the loop. Daytime temperatures range between 15°C and 27°C. After sunset, temperatures drop usually between 7°C to 12°C. The warmest month is September; February and March are amongst the coolest months, around 20°C during the day, so still very pleasant!

How to get here

Malqui Machai

For decades, archeologists and historians have been searching for the tomb of the last Inca Emperor Atahualpa. Seems that the mystery may have been uncovered with the ruins nearby Sigchos.

Churo de amanta

This is an old Inca fortress in the form of a curl, located at 3500m altitude, behind Sigchos high up in the Paramo, and was used to fight against the Spanish conquers.

Rio toachi canyon

The Toachi Canyon was formed due to pyroclastic flows from the Quilotoa volcano. It’s beautiful rock formations go back more than 1800 years. You can appreciate pumice rocks, lapilli and volcanic bombs.

Quilotoa loop

One of the hidden gems of Ecuador, the Quilotoa Loop is the most famous multi-day village to village hiking route in Ecuador. It is located 90 kilometers West of Latacunga and the Pan American Highway.

Local indigenous markets

Tranquil villages explode into a sprawling mix of exotic products, sounds and smells. The market vendors sell everything from pots and pans, to pigs and goats, fruits and vegetables.

Malingua Pamba Community

This tiny village consists of approximately 110 families, 98% of the villagers are indigenous, Kichwa speaking families. One of the few communities that still preserve their ancient traditions and beliefs.
